Yasuj, Sao Paulo universities ink MoU

TEHRAN, Jul. 2 (MNA) – Iran’s Yasuj University of Medical Sciences and Brazil’s University of Sao Paulo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand academic ties, said Owrang Ilami, the president of the Iranian university, IRNA reported on Monday.

He expressed hope that this MoU would open a new horizon in the health sector of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

The MoU aims to boost bilateral cooperation of two universities in research, higher education and disease diagnosis, he highlighted.

According to the MoU, some medical professors of the university will be sent to Brazil to participate in training courses on new medical disciplines which are not available in the country such as gene therapy, stem cell repair and robotic surgery, Ilami added.

Attracting foreign finance is another part of this MoU, he said, adding that Yasuj University of Medical Sciences welcomes foreign investments in health sector of the province.

Ilami went on to say that expanding academic ties with universities in Canada, Argentina and Persian Gulf states are among their priorities.

Established in 1934, University of Sao Paulo is the largest Brazilian public university and the country's most prestigious educational institution, having some enrolled 92,000 students.
